Tips

How to make a great lighting price list

Units, tiers and updates on a lighting price list

A lighting price list needs to support quoting for both retailers and trade customers. List SKU, fixture, finish, dimensions, socket, unit price and any quantity break, grouped by fixture type, with bulbs and components in their own sections. Note which finishes are custom and their lead times, and date the list so contractors know their quote is current.

Fields to show on a lighting price list

Dimensions, cord or drop length, canopy size, socket type, maximum wattage, bulb included, dimmable, lumens and CCT for LED, certification, finish, wholesale and MSRP.

FAQ

Lighting price list questions

Should bulbs and components be on the same lighting price list?

Yes, in separate sections at the end. Retailers often add bulbs to an order, and contractors need components such as canopies and cord sets priced separately.

What specs should a lighting price list include?

At minimum: dimensions, socket, maximum wattage, whether bulbs are included, dimmability and safety listing. For integrated LED fixtures add lumens, color temperature (for example 2700K) and CRI.

How often should I update my price list?

Reissue it whenever costs move enough to change a price, and at least once a year. Always print an effective date at the top so buyers know which version they are holding; with an online catalog link they always see the current one.
