How to make a great rug line sheet

Structuring a rug line sheet

A rug line sheet is really a size-and-price grid per design. Show each design with one overhead photo and a corner close-up, then list construction, fiber, pile height and each size with its own SKU and wholesale price. Put drop-ship terms and the opening order minimum on every page, because stores rarely stock every size and need to quote customers.

Typical rug wholesale terms

Rugs usually sell at about 50% of retail to stores, often with no minimum per design but a $1,000+ opening order. Many suppliers drop-ship large sizes straight to the end customer for a fee; say whether you do. Freight is significant, so state carrier terms and whether prices are FOB your warehouse.

FAQ

Rug line sheet questions

How should rug sizes be listed on a line sheet?

Give every size its own row with SKU, actual dimensions in feet and centimeters, and price. Note the size tolerance for hand-knotted rugs, which can vary by a few inches.

How do I list rug prices by size?

Give each size its own SKU and price, for example AW-HK01-58 for 5x8 and AW-HK01-810 for 8x10. A simple size-and-price grid prevents pricing errors on orders.

Should a line sheet show retail prices?

Show both: the wholesale price is what the buyer pays you, and the MSRP (suggested retail price) tells them their margin at a glance. Most boutiques expect at least a 2x markup, so a sheet with both numbers answers their first question before they have to email you.
