How to make a great soap price list

Units, tiers and updates on a soap price list

Soap is priced per bar but bought by the dozen, so a soap price list should show both: price per bar, price per dozen and the retail price. Group bars by price tier if some cost more to make (goat milk, specialty clays), and keep bath soaks and accessories in separate blocks with their own case sizes. If fragrance oil costs rise, update the affected tier rather than the whole list.

Fields to show on a soap price list

Scent, key oils and butters, net weight after cure, wrap type, case pack, wholesale per bar, MSRP, and whether scent comes from essential oils or fragrance oils. Allergen notes (nut oils, essential oils) spare stores awkward customer questions.

Should all handmade soaps have the same wholesale price?

Not necessarily. Many makers use two or three price tiers based on ingredients, such as a standard bar and a premium goat milk or specialty clay bar. Tiers keep the list simple while protecting margins.

Can I offer mixed cases of soap?

Yes, and it helps first orders. A mixed dozen across your top scents lets a shop test the line without committing to 12 bars of each scent.

How often should I update my price list?
