Tips

How to make a great tea price list

Units, tiers and updates on a tea price list

A tea price list for cafés is usually priced per kilogram of loose leaf, with servings per kilo next to it so the cost per cup is easy to work out. Keep retail tins and sachets in a separate section with case packs and SRP, and teaware in a third. Add the best-before policy and the date of the list, because harvest and freight costs change prices once or twice a year.

Fields to show on a tea price list

Tea type, origin, blend ingredients, caffeine level, steep time and temperature, pack size, tin or pouch, wholesale and retail price, and bulk price per kg.

FAQ

Tea price list questions

How do I help cafés compare tea prices?

Show the price per kilogram and the approximate cups per kilogram for each tea. Cost per cup is how most café owners decide what to put on the menu.

Do cafés prefer loose leaf or sachets?

Both are common: loose leaf for pots and premium service, sachets for speed. Offer both and show cost per serving, which helps cafés price their menu.

How often should I update my price list?

Reissue it whenever costs move enough to change a price, and at least once a year. Always print an effective date at the top so buyers know which version they are holding; with an online catalog link they always see the current one.
