How to make a great tea line sheet

Structuring a tea line sheet

On a tea line sheet, group teas by type (black, green, herbal, chai) and show tins and sachet boxes as separate items with their own case packs. Each block lists origin, tasting notes, caffeine level, net weight, servings per tin, and both prices. Bulk foodservice bags belong on a separate page, since cafés and shops order them on different terms.

Typical tea wholesale terms

Retail tins usually wholesale at around 50% of retail in cases of 6, with a $150–$300 opening order. Bulk tea for foodservice is priced per kg or per pound with tiered breaks. State the best-before (typically 18–24 months sealed) and whether the tea is certified organic.

What tea buyers look for

Tea buyers split into cafés and restaurants, who want bulk loose leaf and sachets with brewing guidance, and shops, who want attractive tins with clear tasting notes. Give steep time and water temperature for every tea; it is the question a store hears most from customers.

FAQ

Tea line sheet questions

Should caffeine levels be on a tea line sheet?

Yes, a simple high, medium, low or caffeine-free note helps shops answer the most common customer question and makes herbal blends easy to find.

How do I price loose-leaf tea for wholesale?

Retail tins are usually priced at about half of retail. Bulk tea for cafés is priced per kg with tiers. Work out your cost per gram including packaging, then check margins with the markup calculator.

Should a line sheet show retail prices?

Show both: the wholesale price is what the buyer pays you, and the MSRP (suggested retail price) tells them their margin at a glance. Most boutiques expect at least a 2x markup, so a sheet with both numbers answers their first question before they have to email you.
