How to make a great craft beer line sheet

Structuring a craft beer line sheet

A craft beer line sheet sells to bottle shops and grocers. Show each beer with its can or label art, style, ABV, IBU, a two-line flavor note, package format, case configuration and both prices. Core beers come first, then seasonals with release windows. A small section on point-of-sale materials, such as shelf talkers or tap handles, helps the beer sell through.

Typical craft beer wholesale terms

Beer sales are regulated. In the US most breweries sell through distributors, some states allow limited self-distribution, and price-posting rules may apply. Present prices per case and per keg with keg deposits listed separately. Outside the US, licensing and duty rules differ, so state whether prices include duty.

What craft beer buyers look for

Bottle shops, bars and restaurants ask about style, ABV, IBU, package format, freshness and keg availability. Show your packaging-date policy and recommended rotation; freshness is a big selling point for hoppy beer. Bars want keg sizes and coupler type.

FAQ

Craft Beer line sheet questions

What should a craft beer line sheet include?

Style, ABV, IBU, flavor notes, package format and case configuration, wholesale and suggested shelf price, plus release windows for seasonals.

Should keg deposits be included in the price?

List them separately (for example "Keg deposit: $30") so the beer price and the refundable deposit are both clear on invoices.

Should a line sheet show retail prices?

Show both: the wholesale price is what the buyer pays you, and the MSRP (suggested retail price) tells them their margin at a glance. Most boutiques expect at least a 2x markup, so a sheet with both numbers answers their first question before they have to email you.
