How to make a great beverage line sheet

Structuring a beverage line sheet

A beverage line sheet sells flavors and formats: show each can or bottle front-on, then list flavor, key ingredients, size, sugar or calories if relevant, package (4-pack, case of 24), shelf life, and both prices. Group by product line and give new flavors a badge. A short merchandising note (cold box, shelf, register) helps shops decide where it sells.

Typical beverage wholesale terms

Beverages ship by the case with minimums of 2–5 cases per flavor for direct accounts, or by the pallet through distributors. Pricing often has a distributor tier, a retailer tier and an SRP. Deposits or recycling fees apply in some states and countries; show them as a separate line.

What beverage buyers look for

Beverage buyers think in cases, pallets and shelf space. Grocers want UPCs, case dimensions and how many cases fit on a pallet; cafés and bars want serving suggestions and mixers in foodservice formats. Shelf life and whether a product needs refrigeration decide where a store can put it.

FAQ

Beverage line sheet questions

Should nutrition details be on a beverage line sheet?

Key points only: calories or sugar per serving and any functional ingredients. Buyers mostly want to know where the drink fits on their shelf.

How do beverage brands price for wholesale?

Most work backwards from SRP: retailer margin (often 30–40% in grocery), then distributor margin (often 25–30%), then the brand's price. Check that your price still covers cost of goods and freight at each tier.

Should a line sheet show retail prices?

Show both: the wholesale price is what the buyer pays you, and the MSRP (suggested retail price) tells them their margin at a glance. Most boutiques expect at least a 2x markup, so a sheet with both numbers answers their first question before they have to email you.
