Tips

How to make a great watch lookbook

Sequencing a watch lookbook

A watch lookbook should put the watch on a wrist in situations that match its character: a dive watch near water, a dress watch with a shirt cuff, a field watch outdoors. Shoot close enough to read the dial but wide enough to show the setting, and keep sleeves and backgrounds neutral. Caption with the reference number and strap, so jewelers can order the exact combination shown.

What watch buyers look for

Watch buyers, especially jewelers, buy on movement, case size and warranty. Lead with the movement (Swiss quartz, Japanese automatic and so on), case diameter and thickness, water resistance in metres and crystal (sapphire or mineral). A clear warranty and service promise matters more here than in almost any other accessory category.

FAQ

Watch lookbook questions

Do watch lookbooks need wrist shots?

Yes. Wrist shots show case size on a real arm, which flat product photos cannot. Mix them with a few close-ups of the dial and caseback.

Do lookbooks include prices?

Usually not on every page. A lookbook sells the mood and styling; prices and minimums live on the line sheet. Many brands put style numbers on each look and send the line sheet alongside, or add a compact price index at the back.
